A Poem about Healing and Freedom

In the dry wilderness, two arched doors painted blue and green are sitting, closed. In the background, the mountains and sky are pink and blue. Image is a collage with words of the poem in cream lettering.

backslide
by Shannon Johnston-Hesketh

I did not slip down a slope into sin,

I kept climbing to escape it.

I did not forsake my faith,

I outgrew the home it had lived in.

I did not abandon my convictions,

I let go of hate to find them.

I am not enlightened,

but, I am free.
