The Dark Night, Songs for Our Seasons of Obscurity

Songs for a Dark Night of the Soul

This playlist is explicit and somewhat intense. It’s probably not what you’d expect from a spiritual director. I think the divide created between what is sacred and what is secular is a false binary.

It’s okay if you resist these songs. Resistance helps us connect with what matters to us. Resistance is an invitation to get curious.

This collection is representative of themes that can be a part of a dark night of the soul.

This playlist is not designed to tell you that your dark night of the soul is not so bad, nor is it an attempt to cheer you up or coax you out of your dark night.

I’m offering this collection with the hope that it meets some of you where you are — to accompany you as you’re present to what is.
